What to Expect:

• Meet the Team:  We look forward to meeting you! Get to know us!. You’ll be warmly welcomed. 
• Interactive Singing Session: We’ll start you singing asap!
  Experience: singing exercises with our tips, then sing songs together. You’ll learn your parts on the night and be amazed at how we all sound together as a community.
  We’ll make time for you to connect with others and no doubt there will be laughs, a great time together, all working towards our best!
• One-Off Session: You are welcome to come and see how we work with this one-off intro session.

If you’re excited about the prospect of singing, growing, and connecting with others, we can’t wait to welcome you to our Community Choir!

How to Join:

1. Attend your first Night: Experience our choir firsthand and meet fellow members.
2. Sign Up: After your first night, you’ll have the opportunity to register and become part of our musical family.
   We’ll also make sure all your questions are answered and what to do next.
3. Start Singing: Dive into weekly rehearsals on Monday nights during the school term.
   7pm – 8:30pm approx. Enjoy our all-inclusive benefits, and make lasting memories!
   We’ll be singing a variety of styles:  e.g. pop, classic hits, gospel, music theatre. Great songs that lift your spirits.

That’s why we started Geelong Choir, where you find your people, a safe space, and a sense of belonging. Where you’re embraced in your imperfections and blend in with the community.

Where we laugh at our mistakes and then take steps to improve, developing confidence in your new found skill.

“It was easy to connect and great that we entered in straight away and actually sang.  At the start we thought it would  be far more instruction rather than practice…. so it was a thrill to get right to it and come away with a great sense of achievement. The connections with others felt easy and I’m sure the sense of team will develop more and more.  Well done to you both for taking a leap of faith.  I don’t think you could have done it any better!”

The best part was hearing everyone sing with great gusto, especially as it was the first night! I think we may have a lot of passionate singers in the group already. 
It was also very evident that we will be lead by two very talented leaders!

Loved the session. My favourite part was looking over at my daughter and her having such a great time. She’s doing Year 12 this year and is under a lot of pressure. It was so great to see her smiling and finding her joy in singing.

It was a warm and welcoming environment with people being open to conversation and giving themselves permission to enjoy the experience. 
The warm up and introductory singing activities were engaging and fun to perform. 
I was initially wondering whether or not the Coldplay song was going to be beyond my singing capabilities. The song choice clearly set the bar, namely, this is going to be a choir that will develop skills and abilities rather than just being a singing group.
I was amazed after a relatively short practice period the final result that was achieved by this group. There is room for improvement, but the final result after one session was in my opinion outstanding. Apart from singing at church many years ago this was my first attempt at singing with a choir. The power of collective voices is quite moving and both Julie and I eagerly look forward to the next instalment.

Thank you so much for organising the event! I had a wonderful time and truly appreciated the environment you both created. It felt like a safe space, which made it easy for me to sing loudly and proudly in a group setting. The vocal exercises at the beginning were a great confidence builder, and the encouragement and guidance made singing easy. I also really enjoyed the diverse mix of people with different singing experiences—it made the whole experience even more enjoyable!

As for the intro night it’s a big positive from me. If that was the first time you and Laura have started a group like this then I reckon you nailed it.
It didn’t take long to feel comfortable and the warm up exercises helped in that regard. The choice of the Coldplay song was brilliant in my view.
It was amazing how good it sounded in such a short time.
